The first rains decided to come the night before we left, and it was beautiful. It carried on til the early morning when we were getting ready to leave Brikama at around 5 in the morning. It wasn't until we were halfway down the road to Sibanor that the rains started coming down again like the floodgates of heaven had opened, and that's when we discovered simultaneously that not only was it pitch black outside and one of our headlights was out, my dad had forgotten his glasses and our windshield wipers weren't working. I thought those were the last thoughts I was going to have.
Sharon and Janke said that they were going to get up and say goodbye but I highly doubted that. Of course they didn't end up showing up but they had both written me a really cute letter before I left :) All the kids kept saying that they were going to get sick if we left, even though I kept telling them it was just for two days haha. The rains made all the roads swampy and even though Alas had slaved over washing our car all by himself the night before we left, by the time we reached Farafenni, where the ferry is, our car looked like it had just waded through a marsh.
We had to go the Farafenni way, even though it's longer, because we had to piick up the schwester who is in Sibanor. After we got off the ferry I drove from Farafenni to Dakar, which isn't very far but ended up being like 8 hours straight (NBD).
